Early life

Koster grew up in Lakewood, Ohio, a city in the Greater Cleveland Metropolitan Area. He attended Lakewood High, Cleveland Institute of Music and Berklee College of Music.

Prior to joining My Morning Jacket, Koster worked as an associate and segment producer for several television documentaries, including Modern Marvels and Haunted History.

Koster has also collaborated with, among others, Laura Viers, Neko Case, Carl Broemel, City & Colour and Sam Outlaw. In 2010, he co-produced Delta Spirit’s History from Below.

Personal life

Koster is an avid basketball fan, especially of his hometown team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. He currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.
