"Blood Brother" is the second episode of the animated series Conan the Adventurer. It was written By Christy Marx in 1992.

Plot summary

The story resumes after episode 1 The Night of Fiery Tears. Conan meets Prince Zula of Wasai aboard a slave ship to help Wrathamon build a second pyramid in addition to the one in Stygia. Conan attacks the slavers and attempts to dive off but is weighed down by the metal chains around him. He is nearly killed by a shark and drowns when they rescue him with grappling hooks. Zula tells his story of becoming enslaved. His cousin Prince Gora told of a slaver raid on a nearby village. Instead of waiting for reinforcements he set out alone and was ambushed.

Needle, attempts to free Conan and steal the guard's keys but is captured by the ship's captain who it turns out is a serpent man intent on giving Conan, Zula, Needle and the star metal sword to Wrathamon as gifts. Upon arriving at the slave camp, Conan is forced to kneel before Wrathamon but refuses. Conan then takes the sword and touches it revealing his true form but it does not send Wrathamon to the abyss. This is because he is more than a serpent man and because he controls the black ring.

Wrathamon attempts to corrupt the sword but the star metal is resistant to the black ring. The serpent man then tries to present Needle but Needle hides in the cork. He doesn't realize that he is there and thinks he escapes Wrathamon then throws the cork into a torch. Conan thinking Needle is dead attacks Wrathamon and is dragged off. Zula later informs that a Phoenix is resistant to fire as it is born in it.

Needle later leaves to find Conan and Zula and is attacked by Dregs. He hides in a shield and escapes to find Conan. Meanwhile, Conan and Zula are in a stockade being fed disgusting food with maggots. Zula then uses the power of Jabal sag to have lemurs deliver food to the starving prisoners. Needle then joins in and they plan to escape. Needle at first is reluctant and afraid but under Conan's threats joins in. They ambush the guard and hijack the slave ships to return to freedom.

Conan goes off to find his sword which is being melted down by Wrathamon to make star metal discs. Since it is tempered it will take longer to destroy. Conan surprises Wrathamon with an axe but is wrestled down by Dregs and Wrathamon. Zula comes to Conan's aid and Needle attacks Dregs by biting him. Zula uses Starmetal bolas he finds to trap Wrathamon and keep him from using his black ring. He also uses it to wrestle down Dregs. Conan then grabs his sword from the furnace blast and cools it and fights Wrathamon in a glorious sword fight. Conan pushes Wrathamon into the Blast furnace and he Zula and Needle flee the camp.

Wrathamon emerges from the wrecked pyramid and orders his forces after Conan and Zula. Zula uses the power of Jabal sag again calling upon lions to attack the serpent men. They then use their star metal weapons to defeat the serpentmen and send them to the Abyss. Conan and Zula escape Wrathamon's forces.

Meanwhile, in Wasai, Zula's cousin Gora asks Zula's father to make him the new Prince of Wasai. Just as he is about to be crowned, Zula and Conan return. He tells of how Conan saved him and was his brother in combat and asks for Conan to be his blood brother. This makes Conan second to Zula in the throne of Wasai pushing back Gora. Gora is later revealed to be a spy for Wrathamon who orders him to watch their every move.
