History

Blink Digital (previously known as Blink Solution) was launched in late 2009 by Dooj Ramchandani (now CEO) and Rikki Agarwal (now COO).

KFC WOW@25

In 2013, Blink Digital created the KFC WOW@25 Augmented Reality app to dispel the notion that KFC in India is expensive. The app promoted KFC’s WOW Menu by allowing users to scan any Indian currency note, which transformed the rectangular bill into a tray, topped with all the items that they could purchase from the WOW Menu with that particular note value. The app was available on a variety of digital platforms including mobile (Android and iOS) and a microsite. The app was downloaded over 35,000 times and reached the #1 spot on the iOS App Store in the Food & Drinks category. The app was shortlisted at FWA in 2013. and won Webby People’s Voice Award in 2014.

#KFCWishbucket

Blink Digital launched #KFCWishbucket campaign in December, 2013 to fulfil Christmas wishes of its consumers through Twitter. In 2014, 17000 ft Foundation, an NGO that works with schools in the Ladakh region, tweeted asking for help in building recreational infrastructure for the children there. #KFCWishbucket fulfilled this by setting up a library and a playground at the Jamyang Khaltse Lamdon School, and playgrounds at two other schools in Kanji and Khangral, in Ladakh. To allow consumers to be a part of this initiative, Blink Digital created a microsite that turned tweets into virtual bricks, which built into a virtual library on Ladakh’s terrain, in real-time.

ICICI Bank Live Without Cash

In 2015, Blink Digital created ‘Live Without Cash’, an integrated digital campaign for ICICI Bank Credit and Debit Cards, that educates consumers about the benefits and advantages of going cashless.

Cadbury Dairy Milk Dosti Ka Shubh Aarambh

Blink Digital created ‘Dosti Ka Shubh Aarambh’ Augmented Reality app for Cadbury Dairy Milk India for Friendship’s Day in 2013. The app allowed users to send virtual friendship bands on Facebook with hidden special messages, by scanning a Cadbury Dairy Milk pack using their smartphones. The special hidden messages could be revealed by scanning the virtual friendship band on the user’s Facebook timeline via the app. The app was downloaded by 25,000 users in just five days.

Awards

Blink Digital's ‘KFC Wow@25' won the 2014 Webby People’s Voice award in the Augmented Reality category. This was the lone Indian winner at the 2014 Webby Awards.

Blink Digital bagged a Gold for ‘KFC WOW@25' in the ‘Mobile Apps’ category at the 2014 Campaign India Digital Crest Awards.
