Birsa Ambedkar Phule Students' Association or BAPSA is a student organization formed on 15 November 2014, the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda and is active at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. It works for student rights and issues of Other Backward Castes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Muslim, Kashmiris, students from the Northeast and LGBT community on campus. It believes that Indian Communists failed to oppose 'Brahmanism' both culturally and politically. In 2016 JNUSU Elections, BAPSA Presidential candidate Sonpimple Rahul Punaram secured second position with 1545 votes against the winner left candidate's 1954 votes. This was a impressive achievement as BAPSA presidential candidate secured 500% more votes than its own 2015 nominee, Chinmaya Mahananda who got 300-odd votes.
