Birds Flying Away is the second album from Mason Jennings. It was released January, 2000 from the label Bar/None. While writing this album the drummer Chris Stock died. Mason Jennings had to find a replacement drummer. The song entitled “Train Leaving Grey” was written and added to the album in dedication of him. Mason Jennings had another setback for 6 months when he got mononucleosis which in turn delayed the release of this album. He is compared to Dave Matthews in The New York Times music review of this album.
