Formation and First Showcase

BioShaft is a Venezuelan alternative funk rock band formed in 2010 by Henry Ollarves (vocals, bass) Andres Blanco (guitar) and Javier Maimone (drums), directly influenced from the rock of the early 90's and the 70's bluesy… it is all about jams, guitar solos and a combination between the dark sounds of grunge and the groove of soul and funk. Bioshaft gained notorious impact after their participation in "Intercolegial Nuevas Bandas 2010", where the power trio managed to get a special mention that caught the attention of criticism and was consolidated with the invitation to the "Festival Nuevas Bandas 2010" as an Emerging Band, placing them in the eye of the hurricane as a promising young Venezuelan rock band thanks to their outstanding presentation and cooling of the hard rock format as it is known.

Rock Band Single and OidosSucios Award

Their single "Payback (Come on)" was included in Rock Band Network video game and it began to rise into the musical underground, impressing specialized radio programs and ensuring a new crop of fans beginning to seek simple social networks. In 2011 Bioshaft released the five-tracks "The Man´s Masterpiece EP" with a positive ratings from the critics, including nominations in OidosSucios Awards and Distorxion Awards as “Best New Act”, “Best Recording” and “Best Video of the year” along starting touring nationwide with the most important Venezuelan bands.

Lines in The Dark Album

In second semester of 2012 Bioshaft released worldwide their debut album Lines In The Dark, a twelve-track production oriented by funk, rock, soul, showing all the angry, powerful and mood created by the band almost in live recording. The album so far has been considering one of the best albums of the year according specialized media and music critics, including the best debut album from an artist. Their singles: “Nothing´s wrong”, “Fuck your solutions” and “Walk through the fire”, got nationwide airtime, and gave a new perspective sound in Venezuela, attracting both youth and adult contemporary audience. Currently the band is touring around Venezuela promoting their first LP release.

Musical Influences

Bioshaft personality sound is cultivated by guitars tearing, sometimes bluesy, sharp, cutting, bass solos, led by the slap and drums, like breaking the sound barrier and sustained by its aggressive intent. Those are some of the features drive this band to leave the common denominator and the attention of hungry music lovers of original music. With only three members BioShaft plays a loud and complex sound that promises to not only create a different way of conceiving the genre, but create a new form of music. The voice of the singer is shown brazen, aggressive, and defiant and serves as a communication bridge the recurring ideas of the band.
