Biloxi shuckers team is born
Pre-Biloxi

The Shuckers franchise came to Biloxi by way of Nashville, Tennessee and Huntsville, Alabama. The franchise began play in 1978 as the Nashville Sounds, a Southern League expansion team. In 1985, the Evansville Triplets moved to Nashville and adopted the Sounds' history, effectively elevating that organization to Triple-A and necessitating a new home for the Double-A franchise. As a result, Huntsville leaders quickly constructed Joe W. Davis Stadium and lured the franchise to town.
In January 2014, the team was sold to Baseball Biloxi, under the leadership of Ken Young. The franchise remained based in Huntsville until the end of the 2014 season, when it was officially announced that it would be moving to Biloxi, although some 2015 home games were contested in Huntsville after delays in the construction of MGM Park.
Despite the Brewers' affiliation remaining intact through the move, the Shuckers did not retain the Stars' statistical history.
2015

The 2015 season was the team's first in Biloxi. The team currently plays at MGM Park, which opened on June 6, 2015. Due to construction delays, the Shuckers played their entire April and May home schedule of 25 games at other venues, including 15 at Joe W. Davis Stadium in Huntsville, Alabama, their previous home field. The other 10 were at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville and Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi, the respective home fields of the Jacksonville Suns and Mississippi Braves. The team's home opener was on June 6, 2015 against the Mobile BayBears.
2016
On April 2, 2016, the Shuckers hosted an exhibition game against their parent-club, the Milwaukee Brewers. This was the first time the Brewers played in Biloxi and the first time a Major League team has played in Biloxi since the 1935 Washington Senators held spring training at Biloxi Stadium.
Name

The team name was chosen via a fan vote in November 2014. Other finalists were the Beacon, Mullets, Black Jacks, Schooners, and Shrimpers. The name "Shuckers" celebrates Biloxi's heritage as a center for the oyster and seafood industries.
