History
Before Akhund Abdul Haleem (Akhund Baba) visited and concurred these areas on his visit (ghazaa) from Afghanistan, all these areas were populated by Hindus, but after Akhund Baba, the Hindus were either killed or became Muslims while some ran away. Then Akund Baba sons and grandsons started living in different parts of Shangla including Bilkanai, Kabal Gram, Lilownai and Ajmir to name a few. One of his grandsons Pirkhan Baba lived in Bilkanai and now his grandsons are in Bilakani and Ajmir, called Miangaan. The name of the Union Council is Pirkhana and is named after Pirkhan Baba whose Grave Mubarak is situated in Bilkanai in Miangaano Graveyard.
Bilkanai was impacted by earthquake in 1974 and 2005, with many people suffering damages during these times. It was also hit severely during 2010 floods and there were quite few casualties including some deaths and lots of people were left homeless.
