Bhawani Bhikshu (Nepali:भवानी भिक्षु) is a Nepali literary figure. He is known for his understanding of female psychology and Terai's Awadhi cultural stories in Nepali mixed language. His mother tongue is Awadhi but began to write in Nepali. He is often criticised by Nepali writers for lack of spontaneity of Nepali language. He lived mostly in Kathmandu but his stories surrounds his homeland Kapilvastu district.

Background
Born to a Awadhi family in Kapilvastu, Nepal as Nohar Ram Gupta, he was once very sick at childhood due to smallpox fever (विफर रोग). When he was near death, his mother cried in front of Shitala Devi (Goddess Bhawani). Miraculously, he lived again and was named after the Goddess Bhawani as Bhawani Bhikshu since he was Bhiksha (beggings) received from Goddess Bhawani.
Career
He began his career by an article published in old famous Sharada journal. He became editor of Sharada after Siddhicharan Shrestha was imprisoned for political views. He worked for Royal Nepal Academy. He received Madan Puraskar 2032 B.S. and Sajha Purashkar 2032 B.S. for same novel Aagat (आगत). Gunakeshari and Maiyasaheb are two female centered story-collections.
