In the 2006 and 2001 state assembly elections Arjun Singh of Trinamool Congress won the Bhatpara assembly seat defeating Harimohan Nath of CPI (M) in 2006and Ramprasad Kundu of CPI (M) in 2001.Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned.
