BernieSez is a website and mobile app created by Terence McEnally. It is an auction-style service where consumers upload a photo of a traffic citation, and attorneys bid to represent the client. Attorneys are required to submit their Bar certification to the site before they can be added as a bidder. BernieSez utilizes a closed bidding process. Lawyers cannot see bids made by other lawyers.

History

BernieSez is co-owned by Terence McEnally and James Young. McEnally is a lawyer in Wake County.

Through a series of connections, Terence met James (Jim) Young, who is a geologist and owner of Terraine, Inc. Since 2010, Young has focused mainly on technology projects. His company owns software called Adesso, which was used to run a portion of the BernieSez website.

Together, Terence and Jim created the company Legal Software Solutions. The company initiated a soft launch of BernieSez in November 2013.

Philosophy

BernieSez was derived from the concept of uShip, a service whereby someone with a large or unwieldy package can find shippers willing to bid on the chance to ship the product. Terrence McEnally wanted to apply this same philosophy to the traffic ticket process and create a more even playing field between lawyers and ticket holders.

Location

BernieSez is based in North Carolina, but the company plans to expand to other states.
