History

The Berlin School of Creative Leadership was founded in 2006 by a group executives from creative industries, and with the help of the Art Directors Club Germany. In partnership with the School of Management and Innovation, a branch of Germany's private business school Steinbeis University, the Berlin School of Creative Leadership offers a Part-Time Global Executive MBA and Executive Education programs designed for professionals in creative industries. Programs are taught in the English language. It has had students from 50 countries. Since its inception, Michael Conrad, the former Creative Director of Leo Burnett Worldwide, Inc, has been President of the school.

Global Executive MBA Program

The Executive MBA in Creative Leadership is a Master’s degree for professionals in areas of business and industry where creativity sets the standards. The program is designed for those with significant professional experience looking to develop further as leaders and carry through purposeful and imaginative change in their fields. Throughout the intensive module residencies and thesis preparation, degree candidates work together with veteran international faculty members as well as industry thought leaders committed to fostering creativity in business.

Applications to the program are accepted on a rolling basis, with Start Modules taking place every March and September. Besides the classes, students complete group projects as well as a Master's Thesis.

The core mission of the school is to have a 'Creative CEO in every creative enterprise'. The program covers the same basic courses as other Executive MBA programs, but tailors them to the creative industries, using case studies, scholarly journals, group projects and 'President's lectures' given by executives in the creative field.

Executive Education

The Executive Education program offers a full range of programing throughout the year including many two day courses on specific leadership-related topics as well as workshops as part of events and festivals and its well-known Cannes Creative Leadership Programme, which is held in partnership with Cannes Lions.

These compact non-degree programs are designed to provide creative leaders and senior executives from the creative industries, associations, federations, festivals and other organizations with exciting learning experiences that are rich, interactive and blended. Participants take part in strategy sessions and simulations that focus on problem-solving and ideation – the skills that in the long run build confidence, help you align initiatives more effectively, and implement approaches that are both flexible and robust.
