Basir Seerat is a filmmaker and photojournalist from Afghanistan and during 1998, he lived as a refugee. Seerat graduated with a Fine Arts degree from Kabul University Department of Theater and Cinema in 2005. That same year, he was kidnapped by the Taliban in Nuristan province while filming a documentary about the lives of women in that region. Seerat escaped after 10 days in captivity. His career collaborations include working with filmmaker Samira Makhmal Baf.

    Seerat exhibited at more than 25 exhibitions with Afghan photographers around the world regarding subjects including human rights, democracy, humanitarian development and good governance.

    Awards

    In 2012, Seerat achieved his first award from the Images and Voice of Hope, New York a journalist, artist human rights Activists. 2012 He was awarded as best Afghan documentary film director from Afghan Human rights Film Festival. 2013 His film little Afghanistan been awarded as best cinematography in MEHRAGAN Festival, Kabul.
