Early and personal life

Basil completed his schooling from St. Joseph's Higher Secondary School Sulthan Bathery and S.K.M.J Higher Secondary School Kalpetta. He graduated in Electrical Engineering from College of Engineering, Trivandrum and worked as a testing engineer in banking software Finacle at Infosys, Trivandrum for two years before he ventured into filmmaking.

In August 2017, he married his long time girlfriend and college-mate Elizabeth Samuel, with whom he was in a relationship for over seven years.

Career

Basil began his career in 2012 as an actor in the short film CET Life. That same year he wrote and directed the shorts Shhh.. and Priyamvadha Katharayano. In 2013, he acted in the short film, Pakalukalude Rani and directed Oru Thundu Padam. He scripted and directed Happy Onam in 2014.

He started his career in the Malayalam film industry with Vineeth Sreenivasan assisting him in his third directional venture, Thira. He also performed a short role in the film Homely Meals by Anoop Kannan. His debut movie as director was Kunjiramayanam starring Vineeth Sreenivasan in the main role alongside his brother Dhyan Sreenivasan and Aju Varghese. It released on 28 August 2015 to positive reviews from critics and audiences. He appeared in a small role in the film, that of a political leader. His second film Godha released in May 2017.
