Barak Hirschowitz is a South-African hotelier, chef, speaker and the president of the International Luxury Hotel Association (ILHA) who has been featured in Food & Wine Magazine as well as Wine Enthusiast Magazine. Hirschowitz has also featured as a speaker in HITEC, ILHA Fast Forward 2020 events, Hotelympia, and other luxury hotel conferences.

Early life and education

Barak Hirschowitz grew up in South Africa. He had his tertiary education at Johnson & Wales University, Rhode Island, USA.

Chef and hotelier career

Barak Hirschowitz started his chef career in New York and later moved to Cape Town, South Africa where he cooked for 12 years. He later formed the South Africa Chef; a recruitment and staff training program for South Africa's booming culinary and hospitality industry. In 2003, he was voted as one of the Top 5 Chefs in South Africa.

In 2004, Barak Hirschowitz co-founded Hospitality Recruitment; an international search firm that assists luxury hotels, resorts and cruise line companies in sourcing for talent. In 2008, he established the Luxury Hoteliers' group which later became the International Luxury Hotel Association (ILHA); a non-profit organization that improves the standard of service in the luxury hotel industry through the provision of resources for education, training and networking to its members.
