History

The Banque Martin Maurel was established in 1964 as a result of a merger of Banque Martin Frères, founded in 1825, and Banque Maurel, founded in 1929 by Robert Maurel. It is a subsidiary of its holding company, Compagnie Financière Martin Maurel Société Anonyme.

In 2000, with the Italian bank Banca Sella Group, it co-founded the Martin Maurel Sella - Banque Privée Monaco. As of 2011, it held 1.8 billion Euros in assets.

It is a member of the Groupement Européen de Banques.

Banque Martin Maurel has been bought by Rothschild & Co. in June 2016 for at €240 million. At the time it had €10 billion of assets under management in France, of which €7 billion for private banking. As a result, Rothschild would become a leading independent private bank in France, with combined AUM of c.€34 billion.
