History
Bankura Christian College was established by the Wesleyan Missionary Society in 1903. It was the first college to be established in Bankura district. The first principal was Rev. J. Mitchell. In 1907 it was granted approval to teach Intermediate Arts (I.A.) and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) courses and affiliated to Burdwan University. This was followed by the introduction of Intermediate Science (I.Sc.) courses in 1911 and Honours degrees 1921.
Accreditation
The college is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It was accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and awarded "A" grade.
