Royal salute the band of the west midlands fire service

The Band of the West Midlands Fire Service is a concert band and marching band based in Birmingham, England, regarded as one of the premier concert and marching band in the Midlands. The band was founded 30 years ago by a small group of serving firefighters who were keen to start a band made up from serving officers and their families. The band represents the West Midlands Fire Service at official Fire Service functions and indeed the UK Fire Service at home and abroad, but also undertakes their own engagements. These have included the 450th birth celebrations of William Shakespeare, the International Firefighters Remembrance and Memorial ceremonies, and performing concerts and marching displays across the Midlands and UK. The band has also travelled in recent years to Paris and Ypres, taking part in the Remembrance Day "Last Post" ceremony.

Contents

The band is open to musicians from the West Midlands who would like to represent the Fire Service at various musical events.

West Midlands Fire Service also supports a pipe band - West Midlands Fire Service Pipe Band - who the band play alongside at events such as the International Firefighters Service of Thanksgiving.
