History

Balloch station opened on 24 April 1988, replacing the former Balloch Central station which was situated immediately north of a level crossing. Closure of this level crossing was made possible by the closure of the previous terminus station - Balloch Pier - half a mile to the north (1986), and the new Balloch station being located south thereof. Opened by British Rail and SPTE.

2016

There is a half-hourly service from Balloch to Airdrie via Glasgow Queen Street and Singer Mondays - Saturdays. These services run non-stop from Dumbarton East to Dalmuir.

On Sundays the service runs via Yoker and Glasgow Central, then alternately to Motherwell via Whifflet and to Larkhall (hourly to each).

Services terminate here at the single platform and remain there for around ten minutes, if possible, before departing.
