BNegão & Seletores de Frequência is one of the most versatile and prolific bands in the current Brazilian music scene - and definitely an ambassador of the new sounds made in Brazil - BNegão & Seletores de Frequência have been consolidating their style of Black Music on a journey that started with the major success of Planet Hemp - band that exploded nationally on the 90’s, mixing Funk, Hip Hop, Hardcore, Ragga and Psychedelic music. In 2003, Planet Hemp MC/vocalist BNegão released his first solo album with Seletores de Frequência.

Now, the band gather three albums that perfectly synthetize a multitude of sounds from all black music styles, like Rap, Soul, Reggae and Afrobeat, without losing touch with the Brazilian essence of samba and funk carioca.

2003 - "Enxugando Gelo"

2003 was a turning point for BNegão & Seletores de Frequência with the release of their first album “Enxugando Gelo” and the definition of the official band members: BNegão (vocals), Pedro Selector (trumpet and vocals), Fábio Kalunga (bass), Robson Riva (drums and vocals) and Fabiano Moreno (guitar and vocals).

2012 - "Sintoniza Lá"

In 2012 the band released another celebrated album – “Sintoniza Lá” – that has been accumulating prizes since then, like “Best Album of the Year” at MTV Brasil Music Awards, “Best Hip Hop Record” from iTunes Brasil and “Best Black Music Record” at “Prêmio Dynamite”, an important award in the Brazilian independent music scene.

In the same year BNegão was also invited to represent the Brazilian music at the London Olympics closing ceremony, performing alongside Seu Jorge and Marisa Monte, and sharing stage with Queen, Madonna, Metallica and Bruce Springsteen. The ceremony was broadcast live for a worldwide audience of billions of people.

2013

In 2013 BNegão was the subject of the project “Sons do Brasil” “Sounds of Brazil” from the French filmmaker Vincent Moon.

2014 - World Cup in Brazil + Videoclip

The following year, 2014, a gracious documentary was world premiered at BBC 1: Rio 50 Degrees – Carry On CaRIOca, from British director Julien Temple. The soundtrack has a rare single from BNegão and Autoramas: “Rio 50 Degrees”. The documentary shows the flip side of Brazil getting ready to host the World Cup and Olympic Games, exploiting the cultural and social history of Rio de Janeiro City.

2015

In 2015 BNegão & Seletores de Frequencia release their third album, TransmutAção (Natura Musical) which was very well received by the press and the result of an extensive two-month tour throughout Brazil. In this new album the group perfectly synthetize the infinity of sounds from all black music styles and make some room for Samba, a never seen style in their discography.

Besides touring extensively with “TransmutAção” live shows, BNegão has also found time and creativity to collaborate with a considerable number of great artists, in Brazil and abroad like Bomba Estéreo, Tony Allen, Pop Will Eat Itself, Blitz The Ambassador. Besides that he performed live with artists such as Skatalites, Public Enemy, Bernard Purdie, New York Ska Jazz Orchestra, East Bay Ray, The Slackers and Afrika Bambaata.

Restless, BNegão still have some side projects like “BNegão Trio”, “BNegão Bota Som” and “BNegão & Seletores de Frequencia at: O Sítio do Pica Pau Amarelo” (musical show for children and adults in which the band performs fable characters from the writer Monteiro Lobato).
