Azure Falls were formed in early 2012 composed of Luke Turner (lead guitar), Luke Micallef (vocals, bass) and Andrew Kavanagh (drums) that originate from Hawkesbury, Australia. In early 2013, they completed their line up with Blake Green (vocals) and Matt Brady (rhythm guitar). The band combines a diverse range of musical elements and techniques to create their own sound. Their first single 'Voices' was recorded in January 2013, followed by 'Dead Eyes' in October.

Guitarist Luke Turner stated in early 2016 that their influences include bands like Vanna, Letlive, For The Fallen Dreams and The Ghost Inside. According to Turner, Blake Green and Luke Micallef write most of the band's lyrics, while he is responsible for the instrumental tracks.
