Aznakayevsky District

Aznakayevsky District (Russian: Азнака́евский райо́н; Tatar: Азнакай районы, Aznaqay rayonı) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the forty-three in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. It is located in the southeast of the republic. The area of the district is 2,143.3 square kilometers (827.5 sq mi). Its administrative center is the town of Aznakayevo (which is administratively not a part of the district). Population: 29,694 (2010 Census); 31,273 (2002 Census); 27,747 (1989 Census).

Administrative and municipal status

Within the framework of administrative divisions, Aznakayevsky District is one of the forty-three in the republic. The town of Aznakayevo serves as its administrative center, despite being incorporated separately as a town of republic significance—an administrative unit with the status equal to that of the districts.

As a municipal division, the district is incorporated as Aznakayevsky Municipal District, with the town of republic significance of Aznakayevo being incorporated within it as Aznakayevo Urban Settlement.
