Azatan (Armenian: Ազատան; formerly, Karakilisa, Karakhs, and Pokr Karakilisa), is a major village and rural community (municipality) in the Shirak Province of Armenia. The National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia (ARMSTAT) reported its population was 5,697 in 2010, up from 4,838 at the 2011 census.
