Aulus Postumius Albinus (praetor 89 BC)

Aulus Postumius Albinus was a general of the Roman Republic in the 1st century BC. He was a person of praetorian rank, and commanded the fleet in the Marsic War in 89 BC. He was subsequently killed by his own soldiers who claimed that he had been guilty of treason. Most contemporary accounts, however, believe the real reason he was killed was on account of his cruelty. Sulla, who was then a legate of the consul Lucius Porcius Cato, incorporated his troops with his own, but did not punish the offenders.
