Career

Ngor was born in what is now South Sudan during the Second Sudanese Civil War. After fleeing his homeland because of the war at the age of six years old, he settled in Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kakuma, Kenya. In Kakuma, Ngor then spent years in the camp, before finally being accepted to go to Australia. Today, he lives and works in his new home in Hobart, Tasmania.

In 2016, Atak won the SBS National Youth Week Competition where he wrote and directed a short film called Atak's Film which was premiered on Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) television network. Atak's Film resonated deeply with the African community in Australia and all over the world, because many have experienced war back home in their home country. The film was produced by SBS and The Foundation for Young Australians.
