He recently wrote a letter criticizing Muslim extremism in response to the exhortion of a leader of al-Qaida in Iraq, Abu Hamza al-Muhajer to, "Kill at least one American in the next two weeks." In the letter he accused al-Muhajer of, "thriv[ing] on the misery of thousands of Muslim youth and children who are victims of despotism, poverty and ignorance," of "abandon[ing] God and...worshipping your own satanic egos that rejoice at the killing of innocent people", and of being, "an enemy of Islam as much as you are an enemy of America."
