History

Asian Private Banker started in November 2009 in the wake of the global financial crisis.

The region’s first event to focus on the private banking advisory community, “Asian Private Banker’s Investment Advisory Summit, 2010”, was held in Hong Kong in June of that year. It led to a sister event in Singapore in October, and the two events have been held annually ever since. Asian Private Banker was also the first to hold the Fund Selection Nexus in Hong Kong in 2012, followed by its sister event in Singapore – those events are also held annually. A small suite of high-leveled decision maker functions and events are held each year.

Asian Private Banker released its first AUM League Table for the top 20 private banks in Asia in April 2012, quickly followed by its relationship manager (RM) Headcount League Table. These league tables are updated annually (in March) and are a result of investigative journalism and data collation. Asian Private Banker’s AUM and RM League Tables are used by the mainstream financial media (Bloomberg, Financial Times, Reuters, The Business Times)

Asian Private Banker’s first Awards for Distinction were held in 2011. The Awards Gala Dinner, held in February each year, is a gathering of figures in Asia’s private banking community.
