Khemka was, formerly, principal and CEO of West Nottinghamshire College. She has been principal and CEO of West Nottinghamshire College since May 2006.

Honours

She was awarded the OBE (Order of the British Empire) in 2008. In 2014, she was appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire. Khemka is the fourth woman of Indian origin to be awarded a damehood of the Order of the British Empire (DBE or GBE) since the order was instituted in 1917, following, chronologically, Kaikhusrau Jahan, Begum of Bhopal (1917), Maharani Lakshmi Devi Bai Sahiba of Dhar State (1931), and Indira Patel (2011).
