The series has 22 episodes, each episode has a separate storyline, all located in different Brazilian states.

About the Series

After the breakthrough success of The Cariocas, which celebrates Rio and its women, the spin-off The Brazilians – The Women embraces all of Brazil and its diverse leading ladies. These admirable heroines are powerful, fragile, funny, protective, beautiful, talented, insightful, and especially unique; and all have a charm of their own. In a fascinating blend of distinctive characteristics the Brazilian woman is a combination of many different cultures.

Fourteen female actresses of all ages and types represent the diversity of a country, on a real journey from the North to the South of Brazil. Each episode has a separate storyline and features one particular woman and her individual quest in an incredible city filled with rich sceneries.

Academy Award nominee Fernanda Montenegro stars in one acclaimed episode as Mary Torres, a frustrated actress who never made it big during her long career. But with the help of her best friend Ney, she struggles to land a role on TV and meets a hardcore fan who might just turn out to be her better half.

Giovanna Antonelli (who starred in El Clon) also stars an episode as the vindictive Gigi. Set in São Paulo the story reveals how far a snobby and selfish woman is willing to go so that her friend won’t wear the same dress to a party. World-renowned singer Ivete Sangalo never fails to get in trouble as the clumsy Raquel. After getting into a huge mix-up when she ruins a dress and handbag she borrowed for a party, Raquel can only count on her luck to get her out of this mess.

Acclaimed children’s TV show host, singer and actress Xuxa gives life to Rita, a rich, stressed woman with a busy social life whose taste for gossip leads her to an amusing search for the truth. Set in Porto Alegre, the ironic Rita won’t rest until she gets all the answers she set out to uncover.

In another episode, Gloria Pires is Angela Cristina, a caring and zealous mother who sometimes embarrasses her teenage children. Set in Rio de Janeiro, it’s an amusing portrayal of the hardships of motherhood that most women can relate to.

Another story presents Juliana Paes (who starred in India – A Love Story) as Janaina, an impetuous and passionate woman from Olinda who is totally in love with her husband, Anderson. But once she hears rumors about an alleged betrayal on his part, he may get more than what he bargained for, when she decides to take matters into her own hands.

Every episode reveals an amazing location and an intriguing woman, each with her unique style, personality, dreams and conflicts. No matter what her birthplace, age, lifestyle or preference, these remarkable women have one thing in common: they are Brazilian. This brilliantly witty and entertaining series provides an exclusive look at the life experiences of the women who inspire everyone.
