Arun Dubey (Hindi: अरुण दुबे; born 18 September 1983) is an Indian politician who has been Vice Chairman, Awas Bandhu in the Housing & Urban Planning Department of Uttar Pradesh Government, since 2014. A member of the Samajwadi Party, he was appointed as Vice Chairman, Awas Bandhu in December 2014, at which time he was the youngest person to have assumed that office.

Early life and education

Arun Dubey was born to Om Prakash 'Baba' Dubey and Gomti Dubey on 18 September 1983 in Badlapur, Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his education from Saifee Golden Jubilee English Public School Kolkata, West Bengal and Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh and is a Graduate Gemologist from Gemological Institute of America.

Family

He is married to Apoorva Dubey and has two children. His father, Om Prakash 'Baba' Dubey, is also a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), Uttar Pradesh from Samajwadi Party representing the constituency of 364 Badlapur of district Jaunpur. His elder uncle, Prem Prakash Dubey, is a Member of the executive committee of Samajwadi Party, Uttar Pradesh of which Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav is president. His younger uncle, Shri Prakash Dubey, is Additional Commissioner Income Tax, posted at Nagpur.

Political career

He joined Samajwadi Party in 2009. He is currently Vice Chairman, Awas Bandhu in the Housing & Urban Planning Department of Uttar Pradesh Government working directly under Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav, who is also the minister of his department. He has also worked as the National Treasurer of Samajwadi Party Chatra Sabha.

Philanthropy

He works tirelessly for the benefit of the society at large through his trust, Arun Dubey Foundation. Among the many social works he has done also include installation of hand pumps for water, toilets for girl schools, helping untimely rain affected farmers and helping the victims of the recent earthquake in Nepal.
