Artur Eresko (born in Kharkov, Ukraine, February 24, 1964) is an entrepreneur in Russia, Ukraine and Latvia, banker, owner and president of an international finance-insurance company.

Biography

A graduate of the 60th Secondary School in Riga, Latvia. From 1981 to 1986, he studied at the State University of Latvia’s Faculty of Law. After graduating from university, he served in the Armed Forces in the army’s Southern Group. After serving out his time in the army, from 1990 to 1995 Eresko studied at the University of Latvia’s Faculty of Economics and subsequently completed his Master’s studies in economics and law. Accordingly, he holds Master’s degrees in both subjects. In 2004, he defended his thesis at the Russian State University for the Humanities and obtained an economic sciences candidate’s degree. Author of many publications on the development of international finance-insurance holding companies, as well as commercial activity. From the moment commercial activity was allowed in the 1990-s, he began to actively engage in the renewal of trading and economic links between the regions of the former Soviet Union. He was the first to establish a new type of business structure – a Latvian Trading House, bringing Latvia’s biggest companies together with the aim of creating an export system under conditions of the formation of new economic relations and developing the principles and foundations for the Latvian State’s subsequent. In order to resolve these tasks, entrepreneur Artur Eresko established the Baltic Product- Raw Material Exchange, whose operations were geared towards a broad range of businesses. Its work ensured and guaranteed the civilized exchange of raw materials and goods such as metals, fuels and FMCG products. Eresko established a structure which was one of the first in the group of former socialist states to implement important import-export activities. Since the end of the 1990-s, A. Eresko has also been involved in matters related to insurance and banking. Since 1996, Eeresko’s name has been a permanent feature of the biographical encyclopedia “Who is Who in Latvia” and prestigious celebrity rankings.

Titles, awards, ratings

In 2005, Artur Eresko was ranked in the TOP 10 of “Latvia’s Young Bankers”.

In 2005, Artur Eeresko occupied 63rd place in the list of the 100 most influential millionaires according to the Latvian magazine “Klubs”.

In 2005, Artur Eresko received the Order of the Holy Apostle Andrew, First Apostle of Christ for preserving cultural and spiritual heritage.

Education

Higher education in jurisprudence and economics.

In 1986, graduated from the State University of Latvia’s Faculty of Law, specialising in jurisprudence. Subsequently obtained his Master’s degree. Master of Laws.

In 1995, graduated from the University of Latvia’s Faculty of Economics, specialising in state economics. Master of Economics.

In 2004, defended his thesis on the subject of “Optimisation of the Mechanism of Governance of the Capital Strategy of Diversified Holding Companies”, Russian State University for the Humanities. Received a scientific degree: “Economic Sciences’ Candidate".

Entrepreneurial history

1989 – 1991: President “Inlat” law office.

1990 – to date: President, “GRATA” multi-sector corporation.

1992 – 1993: President, United Baltic Product Stock Exchange.

From 1994, “Grata” corporation has operated in Ukraine as an import-export company. Artur Eresko becomes its president.

In 1994 “Grata” founded subsidiaries in Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

2000 – 2006: Council Chairman, Ogre Commerce Bank, Latvia.

2002 – to date: Council Chairman, “Nordens – AS” insurance company.

2004 – to date: Council Chairman, “Salamandra Baltika” insurance company.

2002 – 2008: Council Chairman, “Aļkona” insurance company, Ukraine. “Aļkona” is ranked among the TOP 20 Ukrainian insurance companies. Successfully sold to European insurance company representatives – HDI-Gerling company (Germany).

2004 – 2010: Council Chairman, SIA “Baltic Social Commerce Bank” (Russia).

2010 – 2011: Member of the Council of Directors, SIA “Russian Mortgage Bank” commerce bank, as a result of the reorganisation of “Baltic Social Commerce Bank” (Kaliningrad) and “Russian Mortgage Bank” (Moscow).

2006 – 2013: Council Chairman “Legbank” (Ukraine). “Legbank” is one of the founders of Ukraine’s Inter-Bank Currency and Stock Exchange.

Personal life

The Jeresjko family has Ukrainian roots. Eresko is married to his wife Yulia Eresko, an artist and together they have three children.
