Arcade Archives (アーケードアーカイブス, Ākēdo Ākaibusu) is a series of emulated Arcade machine game titles from the 1980s and 1990s for Sony's PlayStation 4, Microsoft's Xbox One, and Windows 10, published by Hamster Corporation. The emulator for all games is developed by Nippon Ichi Software. There is also a sub-series called ACA Neo Geo (アケアカNEOGEO, Akeaka Neo Jio), which is focused on re-releasing Neo Geo titles, in their original Arcade (MVS) form, unlike many services with attempts to emulate the domestic (AES) console versions.
Contents
The Xbox One version of the service was started at February 23, 2017 in Japan at Xbox Games Store, and will cover only Neo Geo games. The first two titles (released at the same time) is World Heroes and Neo Turf Masters, through the latter title was released on the same day for PS4 in Japan.
It has also been announced that the service is planned for a release on the Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo eShop. According to a official announcement from Hamster, will feature The King of Fighters '98, Waku Waku 7, Shock Troopers, World Heroes Perfect and Metal Slug 3 as initial line-up, and will be released on the Switch's launch day (March 3, 2017). As much like Nintendo eShop Virtual Console titles, new games will be released for every week. At the moment, only Neo Geo titles are announced.
Arcade Archives faithfully reproduces classic arcade games for the PS4. It also supports various system specific features. Players can share screenshots and videos, and compete with others in score for online ranking.
