Apical (also known as Apical Group) is one of the largest exporters of palm oil in Indonesia.

Apical has 4 refineries, a biodiesel plant, a fats splitting plant and a crushing plant in Indonesia and China. Its refineries have a total capacity of 3.7 million metric tonnes per annum.

Founded in 2006 by Indonesian tycoon Sukanto Tanoto, Apical is part of the group of companies managed by RGE.

Business

Apical has operations in Tanjung Balai, Dumai and Marunda in Indonesia, and in Nanjing, China. Its operations involve the refining and fractionation of crude palm oil, crude palm oil kernel and soy oil; crushing of palm kernels; production of shortening, margarine and powder fat, biodiesel, glycerin, crude fatty oil, fatty Acids and glycerol; and merchandising and distribution of crude palm oil and processed palm oil to the global market.

It acquired a 67.7% stake in Spain's Bio-Oils on July 5, 2016, for $49 million.

Sustainability

Apical is a founding member of the Singapore Business Council for Sustainable Development, established in November 2012.

On Sep 23, 2014, Apical Group became a signatory of the New York Declaration on Forests.

In June 2015, Apical joined global environmental charity The Forest Trust as a member, committing to no deforestation and development on peatland in its palm oil supply chain.
