Dr. Anton Sirota was the president of the Slovak Committee of Chemistry Olympiad till 2012. Traditionally, he is a deputy leader, the head mentor of the Slovak team in International Chemistry Olympiad. He has been active in organisation of the International Chemistry Olympiad for almost forty years, since the 4th year of the competition.

At the 40th International Chemistry Olympiad in Budapest a new flag for the competition was introduced at the closing ceremony. During the act, Anton Sirota was asked to come forward and to receive the original flag, which should, approximately citing, 'return to where it came from', making a strong reference to the origins of the International Chemistry Olympiad in Czechoslovakia and to the lifelong involvement of Anton Sirota in the organisation of the competition.
