History
Anouvong District is named after King Anouvong, when Xaisomboun Province was established as the 18th province of Lao PDR on 13 December 2013
Geography
To go to Xaisomboun Province from Vientiane, the capital, take the South 13 Road to Bolikhamxay Province and turn left at Thaphabath District and continue to Laongxan District.
