Annu Rani (born 28 August 1992 in Meerut) is an Indian javelin thrower and is the current national record holder. She is supported by Olympic Gold Quest , a not-for-profit foundation that identifies and supports Indian athletes.

Career

Annu Rani Annu Rani became the first Indian woman javelin thrower to qualify

Rani, with a throw of 58.83 metres (193.0 ft) at the 2014 National Inter-State Championship in Lucknow, broke the national record previously held by Gurmeet Kaur. With this throw, she qualified for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, with the selection criteria being 58.46 metres. At the event, she finished eighth, with a best of 56.37 meters in the final. In the same year, at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, she won the bronze medal with a throw of 59.53 meters, in the process, bettered her personal best and broke the national record that she previously held.
