Anna Nagar West (Tamil: அண்ணா நகர் மேற்கு) is a township in Chennai, India. It is the western extension of Anna Nagar and is one of the the most socially active locations in Chennai. The area is one of the major transport and residential hubs within Chennai. More than one lakh people live within Anna Nagar West and the township is a well-planned residential locality. This region contains a variety of schools and hospitals and as a result is one of the most public service concentrated residential hubs in the city. Millenium Park is the largest park within the region. This region is famous for its bus terminus.

History
Anna Nagar West originated as a suburban village and was an extension of Anna Nagar, owing to that city's expanding urbanisation. The township was developed along with Anna Nagar during the World Trade Fair in the year 1968. The board developed residential plots, apartments, commercial complexes, wide roads, school zones, bus terminus, and large parks. Anna Nagar West's boundaries are Park Road, Anna Nagar Sixth Avenue, Inner Ring Road, Ambattur Main Road and M.T.H Road. The local region's layout is constantly changing as new apartments are rising constantly.
Road
Anna Nagar West terminus is situated on the Inner Ring Road. The West terminus is one of the largest bus terminals in the city wand was built by the Pallavan Transport Corporation(PTC) in 1973. It came under the Aynavaram PTC region. Its code was ANW, then ANI, now ANJ. Buses to different parts of the city begin from the West Terminus. The roads are designed based on a matrix structure similar to roads in developed countries in the western world; all the roads are laid parallel and perpendicular to each other like Anna Nagar. This terminus has about 232 buses and about 213 buses are on daily trips. About 50,000 people use this terminus daily. This is the main depot for Mogappair, CMBT, and MMDA bus terminals. Buses to various parts of the city pass through this terminus.

Railway
The Anna Nagar railway station was inaugurated in the year 2003. It is located on road that connects with Villivakkam. The railway line stretches for 3.09 kilometers and links Anna Nagar with the Tiruvallur-Chennai suburban line. Between 2003 and 2007, five suburban trains were operated from Anna Nagar to Chennai Beach via Villivakkam. The station was closed in 2007 for the construction of the Padi elevated rotary. However, after the completion of the rotary in 2009, the station remained closed owing to its low patronage. There were plans to reopen the station in 2011. None of them materialised, however.
The nearest metro stations to Anna Nagar West is the Thirumangalam metro station as a part of the Chennai Metro, which is in the final stages of its construction.
