Animated objects first appeared in the third edition Monster Manual. They also appeared in the 3.5 version of the Monster Manual.
Description
Animated objects are constructs which come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. They owe their existence to spells such as animate objects and similar supernatural abilities.

The animated object appeared in Paizo Publishing's book Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Bestiary (2009), on page 14.
