Andrew Cox (born 6 September 1990) is a New Zealand ice hockey player currently playing for the Perth Thunder in the Australian Ice Hockey League. He is also a member of the New Zealand national ice hockey team.

Playing career

Cox first played for Finnish club UJK U20 in the Jr. A II-divisioona Q in 2008 where he played two games before leaving the team. In 2010 Cox signed with the West Coast Avalanche of the Western Australian Super League (WASL). During the season he also played for the Avalanche's lower division team in the Western Australian Senior A Contact league. The following season Cox left the Avalanche and signed with the Northern Vikings of the Western Australian Super League. He remained with the Vikings until the end of the 2011 season before returning to Finland. Cox signed with Karhu-Kissat of the 2. Divisioona for the 2011-12 season. He played six games with the team, recording four points, before returning to Australia. In 2012 Cox signed with the Perth Thunder of the Australian Ice Hockey League while also playing for the Vikings in the WASL.

Cox was first called up to represent New Zealand in 2011, where he joined the national senior team to compete in the 2011 IIHF World Championship Division II Group A tournament being held in Melbourne, Australia. New Zealand finished second behind hosts Australia while Cox finished the tournament with one goals in his four games. The following year Cox joined the national senior team to compete in the 2012 IIHF World Championship Division II Group A tournament being held in Reykjavik, Iceland. New Zealand finished last and were relegated to Division II Group B for the following year, while Cox finished the tournament with two goals from five games.

Personal life

Cox was born on 6 September 1990 in Auckland, New Zealand. He first started playing ice hockey at the age of seven. He currently works as a high voltage equipment installer while studying.
