Ergotelis

He started his career with the youth teams of Ergotelis, and signed his first professional contract with the club on 19 May 2011. He made his debut on 11 December 2011, in a game against Doxa Drama.
Olympiacos

On 22 March 2013, he signed a four years' contract for Greek giants Olympiacos for an undisclosed fee and his former club will get €150.000. After his signing it was decided to stay for a year in his former club Ergotelis. On 4 August 2014, Bouchalakis scored a suburb goal in the imperious 3-0 win against Milan in International Champions Cup held in USA. The young ace footballer added the final touch in the 78th minute, making the score 3-0, with a superb long-range bullet from 35–40 metres that soared past Michael Agazzi.

On the beginning of the 2015-16 season, Bouchalakis tried his best to convince his coach Marco Silva to stay in the club. On 3 June 2016, besides his injury, Olympiakos officially announced the extension of international Greek midfielder contract with the club until the summer of 2020, with an annual fee of €200,000. On 20 July 2017, Nottingham Forest gave trialist to Greek midfielder a run-out in their first pre-season friendly of the summer, against neighbours Notts County. The Olympiacos midfielder trained with the Reds for a few weeks with a view to completing a loan move.
Nottingham Forest

On 27 July 2017, Bouchalakis signed a three-year deal with Nottingham Forest, after the midfielder impressed during pre-season with the Championship side. No transfer fee was involved in the deal to move the player between two clubs owned by Evangelos Marinakis. Mark Warburton admits he was initially cautious about signing the player – but was quickly won over by Bouchalakis’ attitude on the training ground and his performances in pre-season friendly games against Notts County and Mansfield Town.
On 12 August 2017, Bouchalakis marked his league debut with two strikes at Brentford as Forest got their first away win, with a 4-3 victory, in the Championship since November 2016.
