Overview

Andhra has competed in every season of the Ranji Trophy since making its first appearance in the 1953-54 season, with the exception of 1961-62, when it was absent. As of late October 2016 it has played 297 first-class matches, with 42 wins, 127 losses and 128 draws. Since the inception of List A cricket in India in 1986-87, Andhra has played 114 List A matches, with 30 wins, 83 losses and one no-result.

It has never featured in a Ranji Trophy final and has therefore never had a chance to participate in the Irani Trophy. In the 2007/08 season Andhra achieved two wins out of six in the Elite Group of the Ranji Trophy, missing out of the semi-finals. It falls under the South Zone of Indian cricket. In the 2007-08 season, the Andhra Pradesh cricket team was captained by Mannava Prasad. The contingent also included Arjun Kumar, Mohammad Faiq, Sarath Babu and Paidikalva Vijaykumar.
