Anand Sivakumaran is a writer, director based in India. He began his life as a Chemical Engineer from I.I.T Mumbai, before a drastic career change. After dabbling with Advertising, Journalism and Event Management, he ended up working in Mumbai's Television and Film Industry as a Writer and Director.

Career

Anand is currently working on his Bollywood directorial debut - Money Devo Bhava, an edgy, topical youth movie about greed and consumerism and how it drives college kids to amoral activities. He will follow this up with Chickotee, a nostalgic piece about one idyllic summer in a boy’s life when he discovered love, a sweet tale of friendship, innocence and the madness of being young.

Anand has earlier made an English feature film – Detour, a wicked little thriller about lust, lies and cups of tea. Distribution is awaited.

Anand has written, directed and created a variety of shows for Indian Television encompassing the genres of sitcoms, thrillers, kids shows, drama, telefilms and game shows - Kabhi Haan, Kabhi Naa, Miley Jab Hum Tum, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, Jabb Love Hua, Guns and Roses, Izzat Ka Falooda (Won the ITA award for best mini Series), Lucky, Antariksh, Suvreen Guggal Topper of the Year, and many more.

Anand wrote and directed the short film Hello Goodbye. which was acquired by Friday Moviez and has since been viewed by over 5 million netizens. He has recently also written and directed the short film Square One which is being entered into festivals now. His film (Dreamers a 32 min short film on which he was the Screenwriter) won accolades at festivals abroad.

Anand has just finished his first novel The Woman on the Cliff. He’s got a short story – The C Word - out in serialized form on Rangmunch.TV and is looking to turn that into a collection of more shorts.

In collaboration with UTV, Anand conducted Storytellers - a workshop on writing for film and TV in 2007. Since then he has been conducting regular workshops on writing in schools (Assam Valley), colleges (Sophia’s) and for aspiring writers at large. He also was part of the FWA workshop on writing for television. He has also conducted workshops at an independent level with participants ranging from students to professionals to housewives to retired people. He’s conducting workshops on a variety of subjects like ‘What’s the Heart of a Scene" for students at Whistling Woods. He has also conducted courses on TV and Film Production for mass media students at MET, Bandra.

His was one of the two runners up at the Write Angle Contest organized by sulekha.com and B4U Television in 2001/2002 for his comedy of errors titled Ye Shadi Nahin Ho Sakti.
