The American International School Chennai (AISC) is an international school in Chennai, India. The school is an IB World School and offers the Advanced Placement (AP) program. English is the language of instruction and the school principally serves the expatriate community in Chennai. AISC's current student body consists of approximately 900 students from around the world.

History
The American International School Chennai (AISC) was established in 1995 through a bilateral agreement between the Governments of the United States of America and India. The school and its program was designed to provide instruction, activities, and facilities for families on expatriate assignments in Chennai. It was also meant to serve as a demonstration center of U.S. educational methods and practices.
In 2003, the school, originally located in a small premises in Alwarpet till then, moved to the present-day 10-acre facility at Taramani. The then consul general of the American Consulate in Chennai Richard D. Haynes helped the school in getting the land. The new premises was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
Academic accreditation and memberships
AISC is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS, The Netherlands), the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges (MSA, Philadelphia, U.S.A.), and the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO, England).
