Amari, formerly Amari Hotels and Resorts is a Thai-based hotel and resort chain operating a network of mid to upscale properties throughout Asia and The Middle East. It is now owned by ONYX Hospitality Group - a hotel management company based in Bangkok.

Amari has properties in the major tourist destinations throughout Thailand, including Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Koh Samui, Krabi, and Phuket

In January 2013, hotel and resort chain opened its first overseas property in The Middle East - Amari Doha located in the capital of the state of Qatar.

In May 2013, the brand announced plans to further its international expansion with the launch its first property in the southern peninsula of Bali, Indonesia. Amari Pecatu is scheduled to open its doors in 2018. Shortly thereafter, it was announced that Amari would be opening its first football-themed hotel in the North Eastern province of Buriram to pay tribute to the province’s local football team Buriram United F.C.. The hotel is scheduled to open at the end of 2013.

History

Originally founded by parent company Italthai in Thailand in 1965 under Siam Lodge Hotel Group, it later became Amari Hotels and Resorts Company Limited in 1992.

In March 2010, Amari Hotels & Resorts was relaunched as ONYX Hospitality Group. This change came shortly after the company announced the launch of a new identity for the Amari brand, which included a new logo and the tagline “Colours & Rhythms”. ONYX Hospitality Group is owned by Itallthai Group PTT Public Company Limited Daihatsu HijetFrog

Italthai Group

Italthai Group was originally formed under Italian-Thai Industrial Company Limited in 1955. In 1958, the founders diversified by forming Italian-Thai Development Company Limited, which later became Italthai Engineering Company Limited in 1967.
