UTHTHAREETHARA AMARASIRI KALANSOORIYA
Early life

Born to Kalansuriya Francis Appuhami and Bengamuwa Arachchige Podi Hamine, Kalansuriya took on the responsibility of caring for his three brothers at the age of 17 after his mother's passing. He initially left the film industry, working as a casual laborer earning Rs 1.75 per day. His early career involved working in the Agricultural Department in Mahiyanganaya, serving as a lance corporal in the Sri Lankan Air Force for six years, and working at Mallika Studio and Mahanuwara Lion Cafe in Mahanuwara.

After a disagreement with his boss, Kalansuriya decided to never work under anyone again and began a small clothing business in Kegalle and Peradeniya with Rs. 300 in savings. As his business grew, he expanded into tailoring and owned two tailor shops, where he made clothes for the army and met rising political figures like Lalith Athulathmudali.
Acting Career
In 1978, Kalansuriya returned to acting when H. D. Premaratne invited him to star in the film Apeksha. His subsequent film, Parithyagaya, garnered more awards from OCIC and Sarasaviya. In 1986, he received the Best Supporting Actor award at the Presidential Awards for his role in Puja. Kalansuriya also played a leading role in Sri Lanka's first television serial, Dimuthu Muthu, directed by D. B. Nihalsinghe. After another break, he returned to the screen in 2001 with the film Shilpa Denumena, directed by Rodney Widanapathirana.
