Film and television
Van Annan played the role of Janet in the Italian film Natale a Beverly Hills (known as Christmas in Beverly Hills in the US market). She also held the role of Crissie in The Empire. As a producer, Van Annan produced Jambo Jumbo, a 2010 documentary on the Masai Mara in Kenya with Sir Richard Branson, CEO of the Virgin Group. She later also produced the documentary Equation of Change. In 2013 she wrote, produced, and directed the television series Celebville360. Her production company has also created the reality Internet series The Diary of a Nigerian Wife, for which Van Annan served as executive producer.
Modeling
Van Annan was scouted at the age of 16 by Premier Model Management in London but ended up joining Unique Model Management, who were introduced to her by a make up artist. Within the first week she was shooting for Telegraph Magazine and then modeled for Vidal Sassoon. She has appeared in print advertisements for Ebel Swiss watches and Woolworths Group; and was featured in a commercial for Revlon. In addition to her print and film work, she worked as a runway model for various fashion weeks.

Van Annan is the founder of several companies, namely Elicina Europe, DNA HAIR USA, and Great Light Entertainment LLC. Amanda is a cofounder of Extension Evolution with fellow British actress Judi Shekoni.
Personal life
Van Annan is the niece to the former secretary general of the united nations Kofi Annan. She also plays an active role in CAMFED, a charity that supports the education of young girls in Africa. She is also the cofounder of the women's education charity Etcetera.
