Grace Jones's rendition of the song on her 1989 album Bulletproof Heart served as its second and the last single, released in 1990. A special "Brazilian Mix" of "Amado Mio" was produced to promote the single, which was later available on the 2004 CD re-issue of Bulletproof Heart. The song charted low on European charts, despite being promoted live on various occasions. In the US, the single was a double A-side with "Crack Attack", and became a significant dance hit.
