Amadaguntla is a village in Kodumur mandal in Kurnool District in Andhra Pradesh. It is roughly 25 km by road from Kurnool city. Gorantla, a nearby village is famous for its Madhava temple. Another nearby village, Laddagiri is the birthplace of former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, the late Kotla VijayaBhaskara Reddy. The name is derived from amada (twin) guntalu (ponds). The village has a population of around 10,000 and has buses frequently connected to Kurnool.
Education: The village has government schools till 10th class. Amadaguntla is one of the earliest villages that had a government school and helped in improving the lives of people. Most of the people in the village are highly educated. A lot of people have moved to the US and other major cities in India in search of jobs and settled there. Amadaguntla has one of the highest graduates to population ratio in Kurnool District.
Economy: The village economy is predominantly dependent on agriculture. Majority of the agriculture is rainfed and through borewells. Bad monsoons severely affect the economy as there are no irrigation facilities. The major crops include cotton, jowhar, foxtail millet, sunflower, maize, castor and Pulses. Service class also contributes a major share to the Village's economy. A majority of the people are employed as agricultural workforce. Many youngsters daily travel to Kurnool for education and work.
