Garnett has played with Abbey Lincoln, Betty Carter, Regina Carter, Clark Terry, Pharoah Saunders, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Teddy Edwards, James Carter, Cyrus Chestnut, Charenee Wade, Lou Donaldson, Benny Golson, Al Grey, Rodney Jones, and Sherman Irby, among others.
