Alternative Law Forum is an Indian legal research organization started in March 2000, by Lawrence Liang and Arvind Narrain. The aim of the organization is to focus on legal research and support, integrating alternative lawyering with critical research, alternative dispute resolution, pedagogic interventions and more generally maintaining sustained legal interventions in various social issues.

Areas of work

ALF provides legal support to a wide variety of marginalized people on the basis of class, race, caste, gender, disability or sexuality. It also researches on issues of globalization, urban studies, gender and intellectual property rights. Research and advocacy on sexuality and minority related issues has been their core focus. ALF's work could be broadly listed across the following: Intellectual Property, Gender and Sexuality, Law Media and Culture, Labour, Environment, and Constitution.

Campaigns

A few of the talks and reports that ALF has organized or produced are: Whistleblowers Protection Act 2014, Malnutrition, and Sought a ban on online pornography from the prism of freedom of speech and privacy laws.
